| Centered around its bars, nightclubs and hotels , Barbados has earned a well deserved reputation for its nightlife. There are also local cultural shows and festivals throughout the year to watch out for.The bar scene is lively, informal and friendly. Many of them offer good food and feature live entertainment. The Waterfront Café is well known for its free Jazz nights. In January there is a Jazz Festival that attracts top artists from around the world playing at picture perfect venues. Slightly out of the way, but increasingly popular, are the music nights at the Round House Inn Restaurant & Bar in Bathsheba and has added another flavour to an already rich nightlife. Bars are where most evenings get started and nightclubs are where they end up. Bajan Happy Hours never suffer the indignity of being only and hour long, so it matters not if you arrive late. Several bars around the island feature live entertainment on various nights and its best to ask at the front desk of your hotel. Hotels often provide entertainment too. The local cultural shows allow visitors to dine and experience the colourful and vibrant Caribbean Culture. The nightclub scene is a must for all those who enjoy a good party. Things get into full swing quite late. Excellent local bands featuring everything from Calypso and Reggae to Pop and R & B continue into to the wee hours. Local DJ's have developed somewhat of a friendly rivalry with each other and this produces a "DJ Clash" resulting in some very good deejaying indeed. It is quite remarkable how they seamlessly blend different musical styles into a very enjoyable flow. Partying under the stars is quite literal as many clubs are open air affairs.
