A 340-year-old Great House, largely original with carefully restored carriage house and plantation cottages. The main building is reputedly the oldest all-wood building in the West Indies.

This inn offered shelter to the likes of Admiral Nelson in the late 18th Century. Famous for its magnificent food and genuine hospitality, guests are accommodated in the fifteen freestanding cottages, located 800 feet above sea level.The cottages offer panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and Nevis Peak.

Facilities at the Hermitage include a fresh water swimming pool, tennis court, thoroughbred horse stables, carriage rides, and a well-stocked library, bar and game room. All cottages at the Hermitage have ceiling fans, canopy beds, private porches, mini refrigerator, tea kettle, telephones and hair dryers.

Hillside Cottages ( Carriage House, and Stable) are rustic plantation rooms with ceiling fans, canopy beds, lounges and hammocks. Deluxe Cottages (Tree Tops Up, Tree Tops Down, Tower Up, Tower Down, and Twin Gables) have romantic bedrooms and dressing area and private verandah, overlooking the freshwater swimming pool, stone wall sun terrace and gardens.

Luxury Cottages (the Loft, Pink House, Blue House, Pasture House, Gatehouse, Goosepen, and White House) are charming colonial cottages with large private bedroom with heirloom canopy bedsand bath, plus a separate sitting room, two double beds or one king, and a full kitchen.

The Manor House is on a half acre of private gardens with a private ceramic tiled pool. There are two large master bedrooms with canopy beds, oversized baths, dressing rooms, living room, dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with laundry facilities, and a large wrap around verandah. Rates include full breakfast and afternoon tea service. 8% service charge and 7% government tax are extra.
