Introduction To Grenada

Grenada is affectionately known as 'the Spice Isle' of the Caribbean - there are more spices grown on Grenada per hectare than in any other place on the planet. It's capital, St. Georges, is perhaps the most scenic in all the Caribbean and lies around an apparent ancient, submerged volcano crater. Grenada has a bit of everything - beaches, rainforests, mountains, a fascinating history and an unaffectedly friendly people.

The nation of Grenada consists of three islands: Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. Its people are of mixed origins, though primarily of African descent. The island is volcanic in origin with a central ridge of mountains, the highest of which is Mount St. Catherine at 804 metres (2757 ft). Grenada, despite its beautiful, often steep terrain, has a 3000m runway at the Pointe Salines International Airport allowing easy, direct international access.
