The 62 acre property, designated a nature preserve, is beeing wxtensively reforested with native species. There are numerous nature trails, suitable for hiking or bird watching. Additionally, we grow fresh organic herbs and vegetables on site to make us self sufficient in these items.
Our saltwater pools contain red tilapia, several species o reef fish & caribbean spiny lobsters, which are assured of an ideal environment by the continuous flow of clean, clear water from Culloden Bay."
At Footprints we have two imperatives: preservation and protection of the environment and the comfort of our guests. The whole operation reflects this; local building materials plus renewable energy sources have been used wherever practical and the structures have been built on columns and wooden walkways to minimise earthworks and prevent silt runoff. The property covers 61 acres and a dedicated Nature Preserve. There are many suitable hiking and bird-watching trail within the preserve too. We also grow fresh organic herbs and vegetables to increase ease our self-sufficiency. Our freshwater dams contain red talapia (delicious sweet water fish) as well as freshwater prawns and cascadura - a unique lungfish - and the subject of local legend.
The buildings are built with thatched roofs and unfinished exteriors with teak and wallaba slabs (usually discarded) and local recycled hardwoods. Cottages blend into the surroundings and support surprisingly luxurious interiors and inspirational views. Units contain one or two bedrooms as well as all modern conveniences - solar-heated jacuzzis, photovoltaic lighting, gas stoves and air-conditioning. Satellite programming is available in the villas and the lounge. Each unit features the work of a local artist.
Culloden Reef is virtually untouched and is considered a protected area - the guests are invited to snorkel and SCUBA on this world-class spot. During the winter months the waves majestically crash over the reef and you can take refuge in our salt water pools. You can swim and snorkel in these year round.
Our accommodations include two 2 bedroom-2 bathroom villas, two 1 bedroom-2 bath suites, two superior rooms, two double rooms and the romantic Lover's Retreat. The Cocoa House restaurant & Bar offers delicious local dishes, seafood and other healthy local fare. There's also a convenience store/boutique and a museum/library which includes books and videos on various aspects of life, culture and the natural habitats of Trinidad & Tobago. Our conference room is perfect for your strategic planning sessions, seminars, small conferences or retreats.

Lovers’ Retreat
Fully catered air conditioned hideaway cottage in a secluded valley. Extra large bath featuring separate tub and garden shower, leading out onto very private garden deck with its own Jacuzzi and plunge pool. The large air conditioned bedroom has a ceiling fan, king bed, intimate dining area, and a covered porch with a hammock for lazy days. The foyer features a privacy pass through for food and drinks allowing you completely undisturbed seclusion.
