Bara Di Karta Cartrail
- Washikemba Formation- The name given to the volcanic soils in this area of the island
- Plantation Washikemba- One of the former larger plantations that produced Aloe Vera
- Salina Washikemba- Rain & seawater salt lakes which attract many water birds
- De longest tree of Bonaire- Called a Buttonwood mangrove and measures 28m
- Boka Washikemba- Eroded limestone on the terrace of the eastern coastline
- Punta Blanku Plain- Area to see free roaming donkeys, goats & sheep
- Tsunami transported boulders- Huge boulders deposited up to 3,000 years ago
- Traditional Kunukus- Example of a small scale farm with its own water well and windmill
- Kunuku di Mamai Rosa (1882-1975)- This particular farm has a Bonairean cactus fence and can be visited by appointment
- Pos Bara di Karta- Groundwater well with windmill
- Bara di Karta Hill- Approx. 57m which takes 15m to reach the top
- Picnic Area Three Tamarind Trees- The trees provide a shady area during most of the year
Goto Cartrail
- Cadushy Distillery- The world’s only cactus liqueur made on site
- Altamira Unja- Excellent lookout point to see Rincon, the valley and the east and west coasts
- Plantation Karpata- A former port and commercial center which produced castor oil, aloe vera, charcoal and goats
- Rei King Willem Alexander Marine Reserve- Surrounding Bonaire and Klein Bonaire, this is a legally protected park that is underwater
- Traditional Stone Wall- Northern border to Karpata Plantation
- Goto Lake- Nesting & foraging area for various migratory birds
- Dos Pos (Two water wells)- Provides drinking water for people of Rincon and is a great spot for birdwatching
Onima Cartrail
- Mangazina Di Rei Cultural Park- Means Storehouse of the King and was used in 19th century to store crops
- Piedra Pretu (Black Rock)- Musicians played Bari drums (made with hollow tree trunk and topped with goat skins) here
- Pos Shon Leu- Well for groundwater near the windmill. Great spot to watch birds when there’s water in the dam
- Traditional Kunuku House- Example of a traditional farmhouse
- Dam Grandi- Large Rainwater Dam built in 1953 to catch the rainwater from the hills for agricultural uses
- Redundant Stone Water Tank- Used to store drinking water for the residents in the area
- Panorama East Coast- Gorgeous shoreline views of the east of Bonaire
- Playa Grandi- No swimming due to dangerous currents & undertows. An area where women used to wash clothes
- Morotin- The 12 modern windmills are responsible for 35% of Bonaire’s total electricity demand
- Piedra Di Bonaire- The rocks here are thought to be deposited by tsunami
- Boka Onima- Previously a port to the sea for the people in Rincon
- Mountain View- Koaomati (limestone on volcanic rock hill) is one of the geological structures visible from here
- Indian Inscriptions- These are the best preserved on island. They are mysterious paintings by Indians
Tras di Montana Cartrail
- Old Airstrip- The first airport in 1936 which was basically an airstrip and a small shed
- Shimaruku- A West Indian cherry tree. 3 of these red cherries
- Palu di Taki- Fruit tree that can grow up to 6m. Its fruits are small, velvety and pale yellow
- Chanti Wawa- Limestone hill named by the Indians
- Aletta’s Goat Farm- Produces milk, cheese and yoghurt. Open to the public on Mon, Wed and Fri
- Agave- Imported to the island in 19th century and the plant was used to make rope. 1 of the few plants that produces its own babies
- Palu di Sia- The white saddle tree. The wood was used to make donkey saddles and the branches as fence posts
- Botanical Garden- Enjoy nature and birdlife at this permaculture garden. Tours available
- Tanki Maraka Heritage Park- Fromerly a US military camp site during World War II. Now it’s an open air museum with self-guided tour
- Watapana- Sadly dead at approx. 200 years. One of the thickest & oldest trees on island. The pods contained high quality tannin
- Brazil tree- Tropical hardwood tree whose wood was used to prepare red dye to colour cloth
- Kunuku Maravia- One of the larger goat farms farm
- Apeldam- Bonairean apple tree which produces miniature apples. These are small, yellow and edible
- View of the hills- Great views of the central hills on island from Kralendijk to Rincon
- Seru Largu Viewpoint- Large hill (123m) with the Millennium Monument (large cross) placed by the Catholic Church in 2000
